Several employees of an Asian-owned shop in Vanimo town, have expressed concerns about the way they get paid their salaries.
One of the female employees said that she and other workers are paid in cheques but are required to make a 30-percent shopping at the same shop to get cash as their wages. They are also paying low wages and not following the direction from the Mininum Wage guidelines. The mother says, this is too much because prices of goods in Vanimo is very high, compared to other centers. She's calling on appropriate authorities to visit the town to check how much consumers are charged.
