With applications for the 2015 Westpac Pacific Graduate Program closing on Friday 10 October, the bank is encouraging all graduates from local universities who wish to build a career within a high calibre global financial services organisation to apply. Westpac’s Graduate Program introduces quality graduates from local universities to a 12 month program within Westpac. “The program comprises four rotations of three months in different functional areas, allowing graduates gain a broad experience across various areas of expertise,” says Geoff Toone, Westpac PNG Managing Director. “At the end of the program, graduates transition into roles at Westpac that suit their career aspirations and our business needs.” Graduates are also provided with a mentor to provide structure and support as they receive exposure to different areas of the business, and professional skills training to complement the learning they gain when they complete their degree. “Our graduates are rewarded by working on real jobs from day one, enjoy a competitive salary, healthy work-life balance and all the support they need to kick-start their career,” Mr Toone added. According to Mr Toone, Westpac has welcomed a number of valued graduates to its team over the past three years, and it’s hoped the bank will continue to attract another crop of outstanding individuals in 2015. “We seek to have a number of Westpac Pacific Graduates spread across all of our Pacific locations and aim to introduce our new graduates as early as January, depending on the successful candidates’ availability,” he said. According to Westpac Pacific General Manager Greg Pawson, the Westpac Graduate Program reflects the bank’s interest in helping develop local talent, with around 97% of employees in Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Tonga, Samoa and Cook Islands recruited from local communities. “In order to be the number one bank in our Pacific countries of operation, we continue to seek the benefit of strong local knowledge and expertise. By growing our local talent base, we benefit from employees who truly understand how to meet our customers’ needs,” he says. Interested candidates can complete an online application available from our website:www.westpac.com.au/pacificgrads and need to be local residents or citizens and comply with other terms and conditions.
