This was among other bilateral topics discussed when Israeli Ambassador Shmuel Ben-Shmuel presented his letter of introduction to Prime Minister Peter O’Neill last week.
O’Neill expressed his intention to see both countries’ relationship continue to grow in areas of mutual interest.
“Papua New Guinea has a strong and meaningful friendship with Israel. We are particularly appreciative of the support and advice that Israel is providing as we develop our National Service Programme,” O’Neill said in a statement.
“The skills gained through this programme will enable our children to earn a better living and make an even greater contributing to nation building. This training is particularly relevant to building youth capabilities in agriculture as well as other trade skills.”
O’Neill said the training and expertise in relation to agriculture was particularly important for PNG.
