With Round 16 ending Season Proper last week, the four bottom Teams in the Digicel Cup 2014 Season are beefing up their performances in preparation for the coming weekend.
Two more teams will be eliminated this Sunday when the Bottom 4 teams go up against each other on a ‘do or die’ clash to remain in the competition. Mendi Muruks, Bintangor Goroka Lahanis, Stop N Shop Port Moresby Vipers and TNA Lions are all eyeing the two remaining spots and are prepared to put up powerful performances to secure them. After a week on bye, the Bintangor Goroka Lahanis and TNA Lions, who have made it into the Top 8 will again compete with the Mendi Muruks and Port Moresby Vipers for a shot at the remaining two spots on the Ladder. This week’s Qualifying Finals will see the Top 4 Team go head to head to secure a spot in the Preliminary Finals. Leading competition franchise, Snax Lae Tigers will hunt the Enga Mioks down at the Lae League Grounds while Gurias will host the Hela Wigmen second time in a row at the Graveyard in Kokopo. On the other end, the Elimination Finals will see the Muruks clash against the Lahanis in Mt Hagen while the Lions take on the Vipers at the Simbu franchise’s home ground at Kundiawa. After the sudden death face-off, only two winning teams from this group will join the Top 4 for a second chance at the Semi’s, a step closer to getting the Prestigious Digicel Cup. Closing Round 16, the minor premiers, Tigers are still leading the competition on the first spot with 28 points. The Gurias, Wigmen and Mioks maintained their positions on second, third and fourth places with 22, 20 and 20 points respectively. Meanwhile, Muruks occupied fifth spot with 17 points and Vipers are a level down with 16. The two bottom spots are occupied by Lions and Lahanis with 16 and 15 points respectively. The Qualifying and Elimination Finals will be staged in Lae, Kokopo, Mt Hagen and Kundiawa this weekend. Comments are closed.
