Dion to kick off PM’s XIII match THIS year marks the 10 year anniversary of the annual PM13 clash between the PNG Kumuls and Australian Kangaroos on Sunday October 12 at Kalabond stadium in Kokopo, East New Britain province. The Deputy Prime minister, Leo Dion MP has being given the honors to officially kick off the PMs XIII match between PNG and Australia. THIS year marks the 10 year anniversary of the annual PM13 clash between the PNG Kumuls and Australian Kangaroos on Sunday October 12 at Kalabond stadium in Kokopo, East New Britain province. The Deputy PM will be official guest in the absence of Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill and this year marks Sports, Pacific Games and National Events minister, Justin Tkatchenko will accompany the Deputy prime minister, along with NCD Governor, Powes Parkop. Tkatchenko while confirming this yesterday said he was looking forward to the match. "This match will be a test for rugby league and our representative potential after a big year for the game. "After a very successful year for our SP Hunters in the Queensland Intrust Super Cup, and the Digicel Cup, I am looking forward to how our men will fare against the World Champion Australians." "We have come a very long way in such a short time in our efforts to restore lost pride in our National Game and team, and this is only part of this process," "It will be a huge match for our men, and I am sure Mal Meninga and Michael Marum will do everything they can to ensure they are at their best come Sunday," "I would like to also welcome this quality Australian team to our shores once again, it is through this kind of regular international exposure that we will see our rugby league grow and strengthen" said Tkatchenko With the success of the SP PNG Hunters in the Intrust Super Cup and a new breed of exciting young talent, the PNG Kumuls will take on the might of a full strength Australian Kangaroos in their only game to prepare for the upcoming 4 Nations Tournament.
