Fiji will be sending a 476-strong contingent to the 2015 Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea.
Team Fiji chef de mission Cathy Wong, pictured, says the squad will not only be there to make up the numbers as they want to field only the top-medal prospects. “Our aim is to take medal-winning athletes. That is why we go to the Pacific Games. Our prime objective is to take gold-medal athletes. At the same time, we don’t want to undermine the development of sports in Fiji. If money does allow us to take more, then we will take development athletes. This is highly unlikely but that is our target.” Fiji will be competing in 28 sports at the Pacific Games next year. – Comments are closed.
