Political Commentary by Sam Samson There are two scenarios here if PM Marape does not master the required numbers to pass the National budget. 1. Marape Resigns 2. Marape faces the Opposition Scenario 1. If Marape Resigns Considering that he has no support from the Parliamentarians, the humble thing for him to do is resign from the PM Post. If Marape resigns, there will be many political camps who will vie for the PM post within the Government as well as from the opposition. More likely the opposition camp will be dismantle as there are many leaders who want to be the PM. From the Government Camp, there will be
From the Opposition there are many desperadoes who want the chair.
Note that number game will be crucial in this scenario. Scenario 2. Marape faces the Opposition What James Marape is expecting is that Crown camp's Choice of the alternative PM Nominee will crack the opposition camp. Unfortunately, this wont happen as political heavy weights have lost confidence in his leadership. However, if Marape masters enough number on the floor (more unlikely this will happen), he will pass the budget but the VONC will still be tabled . Given that the opposition's application for VONC is accepted by the Speaker and put on Notice, Marape will still face the VONC. In this scenario, there will be only two candidates vying for the post. That will be James Marape vs PM Nominee from the Opposition. Who ever masters the number will be the next prime minister. Conclusion If Marape Government does not pass the budget on Monday, the honorable thing for Marape to do is resign. Marape should not be selfish on the post given he has no support. He should resign so that this creates avenue for Party leaders like Ipatas, Juffa, Duma or anyone in his government to vie for the PM Post or possible his re-election. The Opposition camp will surely break up and that is where the numbers are free to collect. next : Belden Norman Namah: An Officer And A Gentleman Note: Let Your Views be heard : Send all your Political Commentaries to us through our email : pngfacts@gmail.com Share this Comments are closed.
