A Citizen's Opinion One of the saddest things in life is to witness failure when someone throws away an opportunity, and it is even sadder when a whole country suffers because of the failure. When there was a stalemate in the Laguna camp nearly one year ago, O’Neill offered an olive branch to Marape and invited him to the Crown camp and the numbers for nomination as Prime Minister. But within weeks failure had begun to set in. Marape invited individuals into the Cabinet who began undermining his leadership from within. He came up with slogans that were empty and racist, such as his black nation slogan. What has ever come from his take back PNG slogan? Just more talk and nothing happening. He used take back PNG on everything he did, but nothing happened. In agriculture he has just been talking and wasting time. Has a single SME in the agriculture sector benefited from his talk? The answer is no. He failed to deliver the Papua LNG project and went back to the agreement signed by the O’Neill government, but now the main investor, Total, is sitting on its hands because they do not trust Marape with the project and are instead focusing on their other investments in other countries. Did any landowners get a better deal like he promised? The answer is no because the original deal learned from the mistakes of PNG-LNG was to deliver greater benefits for our LOs. He messed up negotiations for P’Nyang and now that project is another disappointment to add to Marape’s failure list. Government revenue is also drying up because business activities are grounding to a halt. He then went on a massive borrowing spree just to pay government expenses. These billions of Kinas in new foreign debt will not build any new schools or hospitals, it will just be used to try and keep the government going. Now oil prices are going back to a new low and further hurting the economy. We are now facing the biggest health care threat in generations from the Coronavirus, he is sitting by and not doing anything to prepare for the damage tour communities. Coronavirus will possibly kill thousands of Papua New Guineans and make the economy even worse, but he has no plan. These are just a few failures, and there are so many more. He has had the chance to show that he knows how to manage the government, but he has failed. There has been no new legislation introduced aside from the whistle blowers Act, that was prepared by the past government. ICAC is no closer to becoming real, he has spent K30 million in Kina on the USB COI and that will take months to even start hearing evidence. Our country is crying, our people are becoming desperate, our MPs are all disillusioned and their districts are suffering, and now with the International Monetary Fund demanding the end of DSIPs and PSIPs, there will be no funding going to the districts around the country. How much more inaction can our country take from this mess of a government? This man has to do the honorable thing and admit he is not up to the job, that he has failed, and resign for the good of the country. Please, for the welfare of our children, and prosperity of our nation, it is now time to get a government that can deliver real management. It is time to resign Mr Marape. As a strong supporter of the Laguna camp I am losing trust in you. next : East Sepik Governor Bird's Should Understand, O'Neill Borrowed To Develop PNG Note: Let Your Views be heard : Send all your Political Commentaries to us through our email : pngfacts@gmail.com Share this Comments are closed.
