Former Government Minister, Ben Micah, has criticized the Marape government over the proposed stimulus package that he said would see people die of hunger before any support is delivered. “The treasurer's fancy statement prepared by Rr Paul Flanagan is only a pie yet to be baked in the sky,” Mr Micah said to members of the esteemed Think Tank Group of leading PNG intellectuals. “The SMEs would already have died of starvation before the cake comes out of the oven in June. Hopefully that is when a revised supplementary budget is brought down to address the stimulus package. How are people going to eat and live in the urban centers without money as well as the disruption of food supplies and distribution? “How will mostly SME businesses survive without trading.” Mr Micah said the rich talk of the Treasurer would lead to greater economic problems and social disruption. “The treasurer's fancy and optimistic stimulus package announcements in Parliament may well be Johnny come lately, when the recipients have long succumbed to death through hunger and starvation. Or they would be in prison being arrested for stealing to feed their children? “The treasurer and his Australian advisers are hoping that the people will hang on to their fancy economic jargon and hope for the best until June. “The people must eat to live. “They cannot live on the words of a politician. “The government must come up with an immediate plan to alleviate the enforced suffering people will have to undergo within the next 2 months.” Note: Let Your Views be heard : Send all your Political Commentaries to us through our email : pngfacts@gmail.com Share this Comments are closed.
