By Brian Folock K280M + K23M = K303 MILLION FOR COVID 19 OPERATIONS IN PNG WITH LESS THAN 8 REPORTED CASES IS ABSURDITY AT BEST! The amount of money allocated to fight COVID 19 in Papua New Guinea stands at a whopping K303 million. Positive cases of COVID 19 reported in the country is just 8 with zero death. Spread of COVID 19 in the country is one of the lowest and not contagious compared to what is been seen around the world. And yet the government uses COVID 19 as an excuse to allocate such huge public funds. Few months ago, a confidential WhatsApp message originating from the current prime minister leaked to the social media and went viral. The leaked message saw the prime minister advising his cabinet cycles that they will use COVID 19 to strategize to stage 2022 politics and even sobatge any pending court cases against his government. Having that in citizens minds, an initial allocation of K23 million was allegedly dispersed which is the subject of a controversial investigation by a member of the COVID 19 Response Team directly involved in dispersing COVID 19 Funds. Adding salt to the financial wound in the country, the government has seen fit to allocate yet another K280 million to buy 23.2 tons of PPE's for a country with very insignificant effects of COVID 19.
