𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐏𝐄 𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐒 𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐂𝐎𝐎𝐋 𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐈𝐍 𝐎𝐍 𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐄𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 Commentary by Joseph Muna James Marape has just delivered another rambling statement that he has typed out on his iPhoneX with the usual typos and mad jumble of confused ideas. Let me help you to understand what it is he is trying to say, what he does not know how to say and also what he wants to cover up. The full FB post follows my analysis for your reading convenience. In the first few paragraphs he tells us that he is so busy working long hours that he does not have time to write back to people…uhm, well that is except to write this response to the Opposition Leader only one hour after Belden Namah’s statement hit the news…seems he does have time when he is being exposed… While he is not happy with Belden for exposing Pangu Pati corruption by “alluding to corruption based on WhatsApp communications,” he is worried enough to get the lawyers involved. But Marape says now at a time when his government’s healthcare system is ill-prepared to handle a contagious pandemic outbreak, Belden should not do his job as Opposition Leader, but should go home to his district. Well, well, James, by this advice you should have returned home years ago when your petty warlord criminals in Hela started murdering women and children…perhaps take your own advice and go back to your district… The good Member for Tari-Pori goes on to apologise to media saying that he will not respond to Namah’s statement today…well, James, uhhm, isn’t that what you are doing in this Facebook post…responding to the Opposition Leader’s statement. I mean, that is what this post is all about… It is good that James Marape assures the public that he has conducted himself lawfully, and he says you can ask departmental heads if you don’t believe him. In fact, this is a great idea, go and ask departmental heads, and at the same time ask departmental heads in police, finance and health how many million Kina contracts have been given out for catering, hire cars and media consulting. It is also good that PMJM raises the issue of land deals, because that is the basis of the position he has put himself and is demonstrated in the discussion about giving free land titles to Pangu Party members. Anyway, back to what he calls C19, the pandemic that everyone else in the world properly refers to as Coronavirus, or COVID-19, which is the disease that is caused by the virus. But that is ok, we do not expect the Prime Minister to be properly briefed or even knowledgeable these days it seems… oh, and PMJM, do not call it Corona because this literally translates to the crown (and a brand of Mexican beer) or wreath (as referred to in the Bible) because under a microscope, the virions have the appearance of a crown or a wreath. Seriously James, Google it, but stop calling it Corona or the Mexicans will write you a nasty letter. But seriously, the issue of Coronavirus and COVID-19 has been left to fail by Marape, Kramer and Wong. Marape is saying now he has plans to reorganise the government’s priorities and programs to ensure health and safety. But James, you are doing too little too late. All you have done is talk and talk and talk and there has been no action… the story of your whole administration really… all talk, no action. You say you are going to organise the cities and towns, become food sufficient, engage the youths and so many other things. Well, you have had 11 months and you have achieved nothing. There are no new projects, no new infrastructure, and no great master plan, just massive economic decline because you could not complete negotiations on the world stage and you failed to deliver major projects. Now your inaction and failures as a leader mean that our country is exposed to Coronavirus that has the potential to kill thousands and thousands of Papua New Guineans. No one knows if Coronavirus is already in the country, and if it is as we all fear, there is no time left to talk about your great ideas and things you are thinking about doing, your manifesto or your slogans. You might be able to write a few notes on you gold embossed personal paper, on your pretty desk and expensive office, but that does not mean you are really doing anything. Perhaps the biggest achievement of your time in office is to list two points on a piece of paper as you did and to take a photo for proof. You wrote: 1. Grow Rice, and 2. SWF, structure, 7% of all SOE earnings SWF… James, I sure hope there is more to your strategy then just this staring point… You said that government is not only about roads and bridges ( infrastructures) but laws, policies and fixing broken down systems too. I know James, you are jealous of Peter, at the infrastructure he built, the roads, the airports, the sea ports, the bridges, the training colleges, the hospitals, the schools, the sporting facilities…and so on and so on. But you have to calm down and stop being so emotional. Can I suggest that you turn over the next page on your gold embossed letterhead, and write a very simple message to the nation: “𝑰, 𝑱𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒆, 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒃𝒚 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒏 𝒎𝒚 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏…” The following is the Facebook post by James Marape in full: Good evening everyone, contrary to many who have time on hand to talk about any and every criticisms their mind can conjure, I am sitting on the seat of government working long hours and not just on corona but other aspects of our country including the economic health. Thus sometimes I may not write a quick or better response to public queries, and most times I write myself (as I am doing now ) so please forgive my typos or grammars, like it or not, that’s the way it is. Others have heaps of fancy script readers and writers, I don’t, I have few locals, I am just fine with them. My friend the Opposition leader continues to play dirty with misconstrued public releases to appease his team’s political appetite, and that’s fine with me. His latest releases of alluding to corruption based on WhatsApp communications that are in circulation perpetuated by politicians, is being studied by our legal team for legal recourse. Today at this time when our nation’s health care system is ill prepared to handle a contagious pandemic outbreak, where every leaders at districts and provinces are back home attending to local defensive strategies to handle possible outbreaks, here we have the MP for Vanimo Green where border movement takes place more frequently, playing dirty national politics at the expense of our people and country’s health. My apologies to media who wanted my reply on the OL’s statement today, by now you must know I don’t respond to him at his time neither am I advised by the OL. I write and speak on my time when I feel is appropriate. Iam appointed for such a time and I will do what I know is legal and right for the country. I have conducted myself lawfully thus far, my opponents can ask those who work with former government who still remain departmental heads. They were left behind to tell the story 11 months on that Marape Steven government follows due processes and laws and not like the O’Neil Namah of the infamous 2011/12 government that fire sold state lands and made deals and storm roomed court houses, etc. Back to our C19 efforts and SOE, we trying to go back to normalcy at the earliest, Corona has exposed our health system weaknesses and we are reorganizing government’s priorities and programs to ensure our people’s health safety is secured not just from Coronavirus but every other health issues too. And all districts, provinces and our region of Bougainville will be involved in this process. Our country has more challenges and collective efforts in these trying times are required then the hogwash of politics. Under my leadership, we will reorganize cities and towns, rural areas and provinces, resuscitate local participation in micro to big businesses, become food sufficient, engages call youths in either education or sme based industry or employment, reduce loan lending rates etc etc. Our work will continue on despite corona as you see on my desk note two items on growing rice and setting up sovereign wealth fund. Like I did in moving ICAC where past leaders failed ( including former DPM BN), I have brought ICAC and whistle blowers act. Government is not only about roads and bridges ( infrastructures) but laws, policies and fixing broken down systems too. Keep a look out for my clarity on the WhatsApp messages tomorow, I don’t want to dilute OL’s day in the sun today. PMJM.
