I contested in 2017, and was interviewed by Pangu Party Executives to be endorsed as a candidate for the party. One question i remember being asked was..." yu kumul yah, you fly antap, why yu laik kam down lo graun na ron lo politics?" I never got the party endorsement but it was clear to me,during the interview, that our most experienced political strategists, thinkers, and chess movers,in the game, still regard politics as a "popularity dirty game" and not something "Game Changers" doing well in education and professional career should waste their time doing. They were more interested in winning through popularity and gave less attention on positive impact of having the right winner. This reasoning,in old school politics, has destroyed our nation as it resulted in politicians only providing service to their immediate voters ignoring areas they didn't collect many votes. Services provided is often, top dressing, superfluous, unsustainable and ignores the major needs such as education, health and road access to all for ecological sustainable development. It sensationalize service delivery and manipulated it to get the most votes. It seems every election people endorse popularity winners, with no consideration about technical educational requirement for practical politics that will benefit people's lives. As such we hardly see elected MPs arguing policies and legislation in parliament nor create laws, and systems, responsive to common everyday needs of our people. This is the root cause for medicine and school supplies running out and roads never reaching those in rural areas who need it most to survive on their agriculture. . Forty four (44) years of struggling to deliver simple basic services yet no single system ever developed to deliver services automatically around the clock without MP's or Ministers' direct involvement. In any productive society, human beings, from birth, take 3 years to learn to walk and talk ,go to school from age 6 to 25 or 30, get married around then and apply their knowledge to build their own livelihoods up to the age of 50. They spend the later years of their lives advising and guiding the younger generation leaders. Such are norms in all civilized developed societies in the world but PNG .PNG since independence is ruled by old-school politics using popularity minus knowledge & creativity... . 2022 requires new rules to the game of politics. Players have to have right exposure, talent and experience in competitive development if the people are truly serious in #takebackPNG . We need young educated game changers. PNG cannot move forwards until the people themselves change the rules of the game and choose players who will revolutionize systematic service delivery automatically for all in PNG. .
