Western province Governor, Ati Wobiro, maintains he was acting within his jurisdiction to allow the engagement of a Port Moresby-based law firm to represent the Fly River Provincial Government.
His comments comes after the National Court yesterday, struck out the misappropriation case against Mr Wobiro and his Provincial Administrator, Modowa Gumoi due to lack of evidence by police. The two were charged for dishonest application of payments made to the law firm for legal services. Speaking on N-B-C's Monin Tru program, yesterdy, Mr Wobiro says as a governor, it was his prerogative within the laws to approve the funds. "I was only exercising my rights under the law not as me individually but my PEC but because you don't have in house lawyers to defend that because necessary to seek legal, legal help, legal assistant from outside because I made it very clear. "I'm not going to make any decision without proper legal advise. So that money was approve," said Governor Wobiro. Comments are closed.
