After having their motion for the VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE rejected, Opposition has announced after Parliament sitting today that it will now be sitting with its lawyers with the decision made on the motion and other supporting document to interpret their stance. If there is an indication that they may have grounds against the decision by the Parliamentary Private Business Committee, then they will pursue the matter in the Highest Court. “When a motion is presented to the committee, it remains with between the Committee and I as the mover of the motion, unfortunately as you can see on the standing orders there is nothing there stating that when requirements are not met, it will be presented on the floor of Parliament,” said the Dept Opposition Leader, Sam BASIL. Mr Basil said it was due to this reason that Rabaul MP, Dr ALLAN MARAT, has raised a point of order before the Deputy Speakers Speech, which was to remind him of this vital standing order of Parliament. Both the Opposition Leader, Don POLYE and his Deputy, supported by Rabaul MP, Dr Allan MARAT are adamant that the grounds used to reject the motion which they believe is of NATIONAL INTEREST, was biased and not proper. They believe MP Belden NAMAH is still a Member of Parliament even if he is suspended and that 12 people had signed in support of the motion but according to the Deputy Speaker’s statement, only 9 Members confirmed their signatures from the 2015 motion. Mr Basil said the reasons behind the rejection by the Deputy Speaker were addressed by the Opposition side, including Mr Belden NAMAH’s order. Meanwhile, also in Parliament today, the Manam Resettlement Authority Bill 2015 and the Dual Citizenship Bill 2015 were also passed on the floor of Parliament. PNGFM
