The Ombudsman Commission has referred Minister for Religion Youth and Community Development, Delilah Gore to the Public Prosecutor for alleged misconduct in office.
Chief Ombudsman Rigo Lua said that the investigation into Gore’s alleged misconduct in office had arisen from her failure in upholding her duties and responsibilities of office as required under Section 27 of the Constitution and the Organic Law on the Duties and Responsibilities of Leadership. The Chief Ombudsman said that after being satisfied that there was a prima facie case against Gore, the commission went ahead to refer Gore to the Public Prosecutor. “The referral is in the hands of the Public Prosecutor who has the discretion to bring or decline to bring proceedings under the Leadership Code for alleged misconduct in office,” said Lua. It is understood more MPs will be referred. Few MPs have been convicted and imprisoned. Those MPs who have been referred so far are: 1. Paul Tiensten - Pomio MP (imprisoned) 2.
