Another asset owned by controversial businessman, Eremas Wartoto, has been ordered to be restrained in Cairns, Australia.
The National Court in Waigani approved the Public Prosecutor's application to have the shipping vessel seized last week. This now brings to three the number of assets that have been ceased in Queensland Australia. The others include Housing Properties and a hire car business believed to have been purchased by Mr Wartoto using public monies. Lawyers representing the Public Prosecutor made an application on Wednesday for a restraining order. When handing down the decision, Deputy Chief Justice Gibbs Salika says Wartoto has several cases pending which relates to the use of public monies. Therefore it was proper to have these assets ceased until all allegations are proven otherwise. The judge says if Wartoto is not guilty he can sue the State for damages. Comments are closed.
