A resident is demanding the PNG Power Management in Vanimo town, to refund two personal properties allegedly destroyed because of on-going power interruptions.
Police officer Sergeant Peter Simai claims, he lost two television sets, damaged by electricity surges experienced before and after continuous power blackouts. He's demanding a refund of 800-Kina from PNG Power, Vanimo Office for the lost Hi-Definition TV sets. Simai told NBC News, this assets both 14-inch screens were purchased only this year. He says PNG Power did not put out a load-shedding schedule to allow consumers like him to put off such appliances, to protect them from damage. Earlier a group of housewives in town complained their cooking appliances and refrigerators have been damaged since the power interruptions hit this border township in recent months. A mechanical fault with one of the generators, resulted in the continuous power blackouts. Comments are closed.
