The University of Papua New Guinea Student Representative Council Association is yet to make a stand on the current political situation of the nation and the decisions made lately by the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.
In an interview with the 2014 Student Representative Council President Bobby Yupi he says the student body is otherwise occupied with preparations for the National University Games at this time. He says “Our interest is in the Games, in organizing the 420 students who will be traveling and accommodation and what not – we are not concerned about the current political situation now”. “We may return with a motion to do something about this situation or have something to say however, at this point in time – this is not a priority” adds Mr Yupi. This means the UPNG SRC confirms they will not be hosting a public protest march at any time soon as they prepare to fly off for the NUS games in Goroka. It seems the SRC is so busy getting ready for the National University Games that they have no interest or opinion in the welfare of their own nation. If that is indeed the case, then it is an even sadder day for our country indeed. PNGfacts/PNG Village Comments are closed.
