A new Interim Council is expected to be appointed this week as part of the national government's commitment to immediately put an end to the impasse at the University of Technology.
Prime Minister Peter O'Neil announced this, calling on students to return to classes and allow the National Executive Council and authorities concerned to address the issue. Mr O'Neil said students must resume classes as their primary objective and they must know that they have a duty to worry about their future, for their parents and their sponsors. The Prime Minister urged the students to set aside a court order obtained by the Attorney General Kerenga Kua on their behalf to facilitate Dr Albert Schram's return. O'Neil said the new Interim Council will take charge of the implementation of the Sevua Report which among other issues would recall Dr Schram to UNITECH. The Sevua Report is expected to be released in the May session of Parliament. Comments are closed.
