Students at Lae's University of Technology went back to classes today after a five week boycott over last year's removal of Dr Albert Schram as the vice chancellor.
Dr Schram was deported after a clash with some on the university council but he obtained a new employment visa last week and immediately returned to Lae. Radio New Zealand International reports, the liaison officer with the Students Representative Association, Stanley Kombra Tepoka, said they are delighted to have Dr Schram back on the campus. And he said they feel vindicated by the government's promise to make public the report of Judge Mark Sevua's investigation into the allegations of mismanagement and corruption that students have been complaining about. Unitech student leader Stanley Kombra Tepoka who said the two 15-week semesters will become 13-week terms to accommodate the lost weeks. RNZI Comments are closed.
