Position tussle over the Chief Executive Officer position of the Daru General Hospital in Western Province is far from over.
Patients are reported to be victimized as a result of this position tussle between the former suspended Acting C-E-O Dr Amos Lano and Sister Martina Joseph. The ongoing tussle has resulted in a confrontational situation yesterday morning between the followers of Dr Lano and the general public in Daru, when Dr Lano and his followers allegedly stormed into the hospital and forced the hospital management and staff out of their duties. This has resulted in the death of a High Blood Pressure patient who was left unattended to as a result. A high blood pressure patient died as a result of the ongoing tussle over the position of the Daru Hospital. In a confrontation yesterday morning, the former Acting CEO Dr Lano and his followers stormed the hospital administration building and ordered all administrative management staff, including the Acting CEO Sr Martina Joseph out of the office. This resulted in a walk out by all administrative and clinical staff resulting in patients to fend for themselves. The Community of Daru upon hearing the news forcefully marched in and ordered Dr Lano and his followers in the presence of the Daru Police Station Commander Sgt Saiwa Ricker to vacate the hospital premises. In this process two supporters of Dr Lano were assaulted. Sr Joseph and the staff have since resumed duties upon the intervention by the Acting Chairman of the Daru Hospital Board Mr Aide Mai and the general public. Currently the Daru General Hospital Board is in a meeting attending to this issue. Comments are closed.
