Despite the announcement made by the Acting Secretary for Education Dr Uke Kombra to focus on Teachers welfare and their terms and conditions for this year, the issue with teacher’s punctuality still remains and this has prompted the Teachers Service Commission to address this issue with a new approach. Chairman for the Teachers Service Commission Mr Baran Sori said they will be installing Time & Access Machines in all schools starting off with NCD and the Central province. “We are hoping that this system will keep a tab on teachers who are doing their job and those that are just lazing around and getting paid for nothing” “It is the Head Teacher’s responsibility to report teachers with punctuality issues to the authorities, but that hasn’t been the case for so many years and we can’t continue to let teachers be complacent with their punctuality issues” said Mr Sori.
