A MAN was stabbed to death and a female teacher’s house razed in two separate incidents at Wau town, Bulolo district, Morobe earlier this week.
The incidents happened at Wandumion Dec 30 and at Wau Primary School on Jan 1. Attempts to get comments from Wau police station commander Sgt Mathew Kawa and Sgt Timothy Pomoso in Bulolo were not successful. But district administrator Tae Gwambelek confirmed that the teacher’s house was burnt on Jan 1 at 4pm when people were celebrating New Year by beating drums and lighting firecrackers. The single female teacher from Wabag was in Lae when thieves broke into the house and burnt items inside. She was posted to the Wau Primary School last year. Gwambelek condemned the actions of few criminals who were spoiling the image of the two towns. “In Bulolo, the general situation was normal but due to the liquor ban, people resorted to homebrew resulting in many arrests by police,” Gwambelek said. He received from locals the report of the man from Watut who was stabbed to death at Wandumi on Monday. “But I am yet to receive a report from police,” Gwambelek said. Sources in Wau said the thugs were trying to rob the man and eventually killed him. He died while he was taken to the Angau Memorial Hospital in Lae. Meanwhile the road conditions at Yangalimu and Cliffside between Wau and Bulolo had deteriorated because of the continuous bad weather. PNG Facts / The National Comments are closed.
