Situation this morning between the Baruni and Tatana villagers in Port Moresby was tense after some Baruni students were attacked by Tatana villagers over a family feud. According to one of the villagers and eye witness to the incident, the attack this morning came about from a family dispute that resulted in a fight over the weekend at Tatana Village, where a young man from Baruni, who is related to the family was seriously hurt. The situation this morning turned very violent when Baruni villagers retaliated by block off the road and staging an attack on Tatana Villagers. In response, Tatana Villagers blocked of the road leading to their village and came out with weapons to attack the Baruni Villagers. It was reported that homemade guns were displayed during the clash and a dynamite was used that caused an explosion just next to the mangroves along the main road. Police quickly arrived at the scene and the situation was calmed down after NCD Metropolitan Superintendent, Mr. Andy Bawa had a chat with the villagers from both sides.
