The Tari town in Hela Province will now have 8 megawatt of electricity to supply to its consumers.
The National Government under the MOU arrangement with ExxonMobil PNG Limited has made it possible. Prime Minister Peter O'Neill announced that Tari will now receive electricity after 20 years. He says a 4 megawatt of electricity will be provided by the PNG LNG Project while another 4 megawatt will come from Barrick Gold in Pogera to light up Tari. Mr O'Neill says the 8 megawatt will also supply the neighbouring Southern Highlands Province.
