A Special Ministerial Committee has been set up by Cabinet to deliberate on recommendations made by the Commission of Inquiry into Special Agriculture Business Leases in the country.
Prime Minister Peter O'Neill says the special ministerial committee will make its firm recommendations. He says land leases that are not genuine will be cancelled. "Most of the leases that are not genuine, have been taken land away from our people who rightfully deserve to have ownership of those land will be cancelled. Every lease will be cancelled and we'll try and get them to reapply. Those genuine ones who are now producing, these was for agricultural development and those who are in agricultural production and not in forestry. We know that some instances where under the disguise of agricultural development they have been doing forestry and at an exaggerated pace. I will assure you that it will be cancelled. We will return those land back to the people". Comments are closed.
