SPEAKER Theodore Zurenuoc will file a Supreme Court Reference on the separation of powers of the Legislator and the judiciary. The Parliament through a motion without notice agreed that Mr Zurenuoc will file the Supreme Court reference after the Supreme Court ordered last month for Parliament to reconvene and entertain a motion of vote of no-confidence in the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill. Leader of Government Business James Marape brought the motion just before the Parliament rose for a two-month break until October 25 it will reconvene for the 2017 Budget. Mr Marape, who is Finance Minister, said the Speaker would make a special Supreme Court reference in relation to the order granted by the Supreme Court for the Parliament to reconvene within five days. Mr Zurenuoc said the Court had set foot on the functions of Parliament when there are clear separations of powers and has further forced to breach the Constitution and the Parliament Standing Orders. He also stated that the other parties have not been given the opportunity for a fair justice and therefore the chair has decided to invoke a special constitution.
