The body of a man was found slashed up beyond recognition at the Rauna Quarry Gravel yard at 9-Mile, Port Moresby last Friday.
In a police report disseminated to the media, the deceased Jeffrey Kirokaro’s lifeless remains were found in plain view on the Quarry grounds. Jeffrey, who was a Black Swan Security guard, was reported to have been on his way to Laloki Clinic for guard duty at the time of his death. Chief forensic science services of the Royal Papua New Guinean Constabulary Detective Supt Phillip Rambaliku told the media in a statement that his forensic team was first on the scene upon receiving the report on Friday morning. Det Supt Rambaliku said that it was deduced from the crime scene that there were signs of the deceased putting up a fight. “His hands were cut up along the palms and wrist which are clear signs of a struggle to keep the assailant from stabbing him with a sharp implement,” said Det Rambaliku. The Det Supt furthered that the murder may have been committed elsewhere and the body dumped but that it could just as easily have been done where the body was found. The deceased’s Black Swan supervisor confirmed that Jeffrey did have guard duty at Laloki and that this was his regular post for the last few months. Forensic evidence along with the autopsy revealed that Jeffrey had been killed at around 6am last Friday and that he had died of excessive loss of blood from a slash to the cheek which had caved in a main artery. Apart from the slash to the face, the deceased had multiple slash wounds and Det Supt Rambaliku revealed that it was clear by judging from the wounds that the cuts were inflicted on the victim using two different knives; A kitchen knife and a bush knife. Det Supt Rambaliku stated that the murderers are still at large and gave out a warning to all citizens to be cautious this festive season and to keep in doors as much as possible.
