The suspect Joel Kambo a male adult of Lengi village Wabag, Enga province allegedly argued with police outside the foreign mission on Tuesday November 28. Police will allege in court that Kambo yelled at them using words to this effect "sarap na f..k off. (Shut up and f..k off). After allegedly uttering these words, Kambo walked away and said "Yupla fit kam kisim me" (If you are fit enough, come and get me)
He was eventually arrested and charged for obstructing police duties, uttering insultive words and committing a breach of the peace, under the Summary Offenses Act Chapter 264. A police patrol went to the gate of the Australian High Commission to speak to another security man over a police matter, when Kambo questioned their authority outside the foreign mission, in a threatening manner. After their encounter with Kambo, they observed diplomatic protocol by staking out from a distance. He said they pounced on Kambo when he left the foreign mission and came out in a public place.
