Prime Minister Peter O’Neill welcomes Minister William Duma back to Cabinet
after his swearing-in-ceremony at the Government House yesterday (08/08/14 ) as Minister responsible for Transport and Infrastructure. Mr O’Neill thanked Minister Duma for his leadership, courage and his support despite the differences in the recent past. “We are thankful that Minister Duma has remained a strong supporter of the government despite the differences,” he said. Prime Minister O’Neill also acknowledged Minister Duma’s leadership while he was Minister then responsible for the LNG project, which saw delivery of big infrastructure development projects in Papua New Guinea. “I am confident that with the Minister’s experiences, the country will also see significant changes to its development in the coming years,” he said. Minister Duma thanked Prime Minister O’Neill for his appointment and stressed that a Prime Minister in a Western Democracy has the power to appoint and decommission Ministers. “When my Prime Minister made a decision to decommission me as his Minister, I accepted it with humility,” he said. Mr Duma said he is committed to the Prime Minister and his Government and will support in whatever capacity to deliver services to the people. Prime Minister O’Neill also announced other changes in Cabinet with the voluntary stand down by Loujaya Kouza to head the Lae City Commission as Chairman, Minister Malakai Tamar is now the Minister for Education, Minister Delaila Gore is now the Minister for Community, Women, Youth & Religion.
