Prime Minister Peter O’Neill is confident that his government will continue serving the people of Papua New Guinea until the next elections in 2017.
In a news conference yesterday, flanked by Ministers and Members of the People’s National Congress, Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill assured the people that the country is in safe hands and that the Government will continue to provide stability. O’Neill said the Government is stable despite speculations about a looming vote of no-confidence. Last night, PNC, numbering 61, met for their normal caucus meeting and reiterated that the Government that the lead is solid and doing everything possible to maintain the growth of the economy, ensure essential services are delivered to the people which include core services for the grassroots, including school fees and access to healthcare, which will continue to be properly funded. "Our numbers are the same members that when I went to sleep on last night, they are tomorrow. You can say that the Government has got numbers as close to 100 but PNC itself has got 61 members and of course we are always willing to work with all our coalition partners. "If there is anything that will happen, it will happen within PNC. So I think the Opposition and other members who want to form the Government should go to court and seek their interpretation," he said.
