PNG Prime Minister James Marape has expressed appreciation for the Eliseo Group's ongoing investments in Port Moresby, recognizing its crucial role in generating employment opportunities for local residents, particularly in the Gerehu area, which has been severely affected by recent challenges. In the wake of the January 10, 2024, incidents that caused extensive damage to businesses, including looting and arson, the Eliseo Group has shown remarkable resilience and commitment to rebuilding the community. Prime Minister Marape underscored the positive impact of the company's initiatives, notably with the recent launch of the Eliseo Gerehu Plaza, which has created 120 new jobs for local workers. This development marks a significant milestone in the community's recovery efforts. “I commend the Eliseo Group for establishing 120 new positions at its Eliseo Gerehu Plaza and for its upcoming plans to open the Eliseo 9-Mile Plaza, which will create another 150 jobs, followed by Eliseo Boroko, providing an additional 150 jobs,” stated Prime Minister Marape. He described this initiative as an inspiring demonstration of confidence in the community and a commitment to its people.
The Prime Minister further noted that the Eliseo Group is instilling a renewed sense of hope and optimism in the future of Port Moresby. He expressed gratitude for the company's willingness to invest despite adversities and emphasized the broader implications of Eliseo's expansion plans. “I am pleased to read in the newspapers that the Eliseo Group remains dedicated to serving the community and offering employment to young individuals, with intentions to establish outlets in other regions of the country,” he remarked. He continued, “Amid the challenges following that tragic day in Papua New Guinea's history, Eliseo’s confidence in the nation through job creation and investment in new supermarkets represents a silver lining amid the dark clouds.” Prime Minister Marape highlighted that the Eliseo Group's expansion across multiple locations in Port Moresby—Gerehu, 9-Mile, and Boroko—reflects a strong commitment to community development and sustainable growth. He noted that beyond job creation, these initiatives symbolize a brighter future for Port Moresby, as the Group strives to address customer needs while empowering local residents. “As Port Moresby continues its recovery, the Eliseo Group's commitment to providing employment and accessible retail services stands as a beacon of hope. This dedication not only supports immediate recovery efforts but also establishes a foundation for long-term growth, stability, and prosperity throughout Papua New Guinea.” Also read Comments are closed.
