PPP Man Ken Fairweather signs Vote of No Confidence in a bid to overthrow O'Neill Government7/6/2016 Papua New Guinea MP Ken Fairweather is one Member of Parliament who has signed for the vote of no-confidence against Prime Minister Peter O’Neill. But Fairweather, who is still a member of the People’s Progress Party which is in Government, said Monday that he had signed to remove O’Neill not because he is not a good leader, but because he is protesting the state of the economy. Fairweather is claiming that the economy has been mismanaged and that he knows it because his business is severely affected by the current global economic downturn. He said that there are still ways to address this but the Government is not taking control of its spending and expenditure and that there is too much borrowing. “Well I signed the vote, I can’t do more. I’m disgusted with Government including my party leader Ben Micah,” he said. “Peter is a friend, he is a good Prime Minister though it is the state of the economy that I am protesting against," Fairweather said. “And also those MPs surrounding him especially Richard Maru for the PMIZ issue.” “I know we are in a big mess, too much borrowing, too much waste of money and failure to provide foreign exchange is killing businesses, mine is affected severely. “Government should be more vigilant,” he said.
