National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop has commended city residents for the positive response to the beetle-nut ban in the city.
He told reporters yesterday (Wednesday), it was a tough decision but he is overwhelmed with the outcome. Parkop said the response shows that the people are adamant on changing the image of the city. "Just one day into the ban but the results speaks for itself. The city has never been look better than it was yesterday unlike in the past. It's a long way yet to go, the journey will be long to you know continue to maintain and sustain that but first day is a impressive, although we have not started imposing the penalties associated with the ban yet. Just for today, first day I want to comment our city residents and the betel nut chewers and the sellers. They've been responded some might intimidated into responding, but otherwise everybody has responded and cooperated and I want to commend them. And I want to engage them to keep on going that way. The city can be a better place for everybody". Comments are closed.
