A Lawyer representing the Member for Komo-Magarima, Francis Potape, said he hopes to file for his clients bail application in court today.
Lawyer Justin Haiara said the paperwork for Potape's bail was still incomplete and was not filed yesterday. Mr Potape spent two nights at the Bomana Prison while awaiting his bail applications to be filed in court. He was sentence to two-and-a-half years in jail on Monday by Deputy Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika for misappropriation and fraud against the state. He's the third member of the current parliament to have been jailed, including Pomio M-P Paul Tiensten and Gulf Governor Havila Kavo. Tiensten was unsuccessful in his appeal for bail and is serving his nine year term while Kavo served two weeks in prison, succeeded and is out on bail.
