Port Moresby Welcomes the Newly-elected Members of Parliament to 11th Parliament to form Government8/8/2022
As the incumbent Governor of our Capital City where the National Parliament sits, I congratulate and welcome all newly elected Members of Parliament to their Capital City and to the 11th National Parliament to witness the election of the Prime Minister tomorrow. This is a momentous time in the history of our nation and the journey for our people and, we look forward to the Parliament convening tomorrow. Our people have spoken and you all have been mandated to represent them to provide leadership for our country for the next five years. Tomorrow this journey formally starts and we look forward to the swearing in of the newly-elected Members of Parliament taking their oaths and pledges in Parliament. On behalf of the people of NCD, we congratulate Prime Minister, Hon. James Marape and leader of Pangu Party for accepting the invitation by the Governor-General to form the next Government. The mandate is overwhelming and this must be the decision of Parliament tomorrow.
We look forward to his election and also the formation of the Executive Government with the appointment of the Deputy Prime Minister and other Ministers of State. I am saddened that around 30 other Electorates will not be represented when Parliament convenes tomorrow including three (3) electorates in NCD. NCD will only be represented by only one Member of Parliament from the Moresby South electorate. This regrettable outcome lies squarely with the Chief Electoral Commissioner and his staff. They should have ensured that all provinces finish counting particularly the Capital City and all the 118 mandated leaders be in Parliament when Parliament sits. Nevertheless, on behalf of the City, we welcome all our Members of Parliament to Amazing Port Moresby to attend the 11th Parliament for this historical day for our country and our people. May God bless our City and our Country, Papua New Guinea. HON. POWES PARKOP, LLB, LLM, MP, Incumbent Governor for NCD Next : Marape And Pangu Ready To Fix Up PNG's Election Woes Comments are closed.
