Counting for the Moresby North West Open seat will commence on Tuesday, 8th June 2021. This followed the completion of the one-day polling last Friday. According to Electoral Commission, a total of 190 officials will be involved in the counting process. The counting is expected within 21 days. Elimination counts will have 40 counting officials who will sort and distribute votes for the 42 candidates.
The central location for counting is at the Sir John Guise Stadium. Meanwhile, allegations of foul play by candidates of the MNW Election surfaces and candidates are putting together a petition to present to the Electoral Commission which could likely have implications on the counting.
