PORT MORESBY: Opposition Leader Don Pomb Polye has urged the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill to refrain from pleading for political stability, saying it has been abused. “Under the pretext of political stability, most decisions the Prime Minister made during his third year in office are not in the best interest of the nation,” said Mr Polye. Mr Polye’s remark stems from the comments by Prime Minister that he needed political stability to develop the country. Mr O’Neill made the statement when officiating at the Hoskins airport in West New Britain. He alluded to undermining of rule of law, eroding of democracy, breaching of the constitution and other laws and rife in corruption were the testimony of this abuse of stability. He has urged the Prime Minister to stop seeking sympathy from the people as they know who he is. “The actions and inactions of the government warrant a change in the government. “I don’t understand why the Prime Minister is asking for political stability in light of him losing the confidence of his MPs and the people. I don’t think he is heaven-sent,” said Mr Polye. He said the Opposition was ready to change the government.
