Bel Isi Park in Buka Town was packed to capacity today as Bougainvilleans young and old came in numbers just to watch and take a glimpse of their favorite artist Anslom Nakikus.
Mr. Nakikus is here on Bougainville for a one week election awareness road show with the Bougainville Police Service. The Election Security Awareness under the theme “Promoting a Free, Fair and Safe ABG Election 2015” was declared open today by the Assistant Commissioner for Police Paul Kamuai. When making the declaration, Mr. Kamuai stressed strongly on the importance of having a free, fair and safe election. He said with Bougainville’s history of violence, the whole world is watching us and as responsible people, we must make the election our responsibility. The road show included presentations from police officers, regional commander for North Inspector Kingsley Lua, Oscar Tugen, Leslie Meten, Florence Nohu, Joyce Tseraha and Helen Hakena from the Leitana Nehan Women’s Development Agency. Presentations were all based on the election and that included the topics Election Security, Benefits of the ABG Election, Good Governance, Cross Cutting Issues, Election Offences, the LPV voting system and law and order issues. To top it off, Anslom Nakikus and his band members were present to put up live performances in intervals to liven up the road show awareness
