A protest march in Port Moresby this morning went wrong after several protesters were assaulted and bashed up by NCD Police officers who were supposed to provide security and ensure the public property was respected as well as public safety guaranteed. NGO activist Noel Anjo says they are preparing a contempt charges against the police for defying and orders from the court allowing for any peaceful protest march or gathering to be carried out without any interruption by police. Mr. Anjo says they will return their petition to the people and carry out more awareness within 7 days before they stage another protest next week Monday 02nd November 2015. “We will need to re-strategize and make more awareness to the people before returning for another protest planned for next week Monday. This time we come back stronger than today,” activist Anjo said. PNGFM/PNGFACTS
