Police has today asked the National Court to decide if Acting Police Commissioner Geoffrey Vaki had powers to withdraw the arrest warrant issued for the PM by the outgoing commissioner Tom Kulunga.
This follows a consent or agreement between the Police and PM’s lawyers to have the arrest warrant set aside until the court dealt with the taxation of the Paraka Bills first. Meanwhile it was also argued today that the warrant of arrest was done by Tom Kulunga on the same day that he was suspended, following his sentencing for contempt. The other issue raised was that junior police officers went ahead to arrest Vaki following his withdrawal of the arrest warrant, and the court needed to confirm if Vaki had the authority to withdraw the warrant. Judge Ere Kariko will hand down the ruling next Tuesday to confirm the setting aside of the arrest warrant. Comments are closed.
