A MAGISTRATE has cautioned women who go to nightclubs to take extra care of their welfare.
Waigani Committal Court magistrate Cosmas Bidar made this comment yesterday when he dismissed the case of four men accused of raping a woman who was heavily intoxicated. Steven Jack, Albert Harea, John Wilson and Junior Maima had their case dismissed after Bidar ruled there was insufficient evidence for the case to proceed to the National Court, or warrant a trial. He said that this was a case where someone put herself in a situation where she was likely to be abused sexually or otherwise. “It is not fair to blame a few when others were involved,” Bidar said.
