A special PNG parliament session will be held on Friday, the 12th of March, 2021. All members of parliament, representing each district in the country will pay their last respect to Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare. Prime Minister James Marape says a state funeral will be held later in the afternoon to ensure Sir Michael is given a well-deserved send-off to his final resting place. The Late Grand Chief Sir Michael will be accorded a well-deserved send-off on the 12th of March.
Prime Minister James Marape says a special parliament session will be held in the morning with a state funeral service planned for the afternoon at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium. Sir Michael’s body will leave for Wewak on the 14th of March. Work in progress is still being discussed by a body of leaders including the Prime Minister and family members of the later founding father of the nation.
