Papua New Guinea is preparing to attend the 12th Pacific Arts Festival, which will be hosted in Guam from the 22nd of May to the 04th of June 2016. PNG is one of the 27 Pacific Island Nations and territories that will be taking part in the festival and preparations are already underway to gear up for the festival. A committee chaired by the Acting Executive Director of National Cultural Commission, Dr. Jacob Simet has been set up to organise the PNG contingent and at least 170 PNG participants, including officials and VIPs who will take part in the festival. Mr John Uani, the coordinator of the PNG organizing committee said participants will be from various art and culture backgrounds, which include contemporary visual and performing artists, carvers, weavers, tailors and story tellers. Four provinces have been selected to represent each of the 4 regions of PNG in the festival. Meantime, transport, accommodation, insurance cover and other necessities for the participants are being prepared.
