National Capital District Metropolitan Superintendent Andy Bawa is left buffled, after learning that lawyer Paul Paraka was released on bail last night.
Law firm Paraka Lawyers told NBC News Mr. Paraka was released on a 50-thousand kina bail, although police have initially refused bail. Paraka is due to appear before the Waigani Committal Court for mention this morning. But Mr. Bawa says he's release from police custody late last night is illegal, because he is the only person authorized to grant bail and no other officers. Bawa says, he is investigating the matter.
