Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O’Neill will represent the Pacific in the upcoming Second Belt and Road Forum for international cooperation in Beijing next week, which will be chaired by Chinese President Xi Jinping. O’Neill confirmed that PNG will represent the Pacific in the upcoming belt and road forum in Beijing next week which he will attend. He said this meeting is very significant for Papua New Guinea and the Pacific as the leaders which he will be part of, will take stock of what has been achieved and draw a blueprint for future cooperation to further enrich Belt and Road Initiative cooperation. Chinese Ambassador to PNG Xue Bing said this forum will be attended by 40 world leaders and representatives from more than 100 countries. “In one week’s time, the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill) will make another visit to China to attend the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation,” he said. “The theme of this year’s Forum is: Belt and Road Cooperation: Shaping a Brighter Shared Future, and the Forum events include the opening ceremony, a leaders’ round table, a high-level meeting, thematic forums, a CEO conference and other side events. “Representatives from more than 100 countries, including about 40 leaders of foreign governments, have confirmed their attendance,” he said.
