Deputy Opposition Leader Sam Basil is concerned about the University of Technology saga and wants the National Executive Council to immediately intervene.
Mr Basil also wants the report of an inquiry conducted by the national government into UNITECH last year, made public. He said whether or not recommendations contained in the report has called for the removal of the Interim Council or the former Council was rightfully removed, that should be acted on and made public. The Deputy Opposition Leader explains that the public has been informed that the Interim Council headed by Sir Nagora Bogan has resolved to reinstate Dr Albert Schram. However he said the inquiry by retired Judge Mark Sevua is yet to be made public to clarify on the issue. Basil reiterated that NEC must intervene to respond to the pleas of stakeholders who in this case happen to be the students, parents, teaching and non-teaching staff of UNITECH and the public at large.
