The Opposition says, 2013 should not be called an year of implementation, because certain electorates in the country have been overlooked by the National Government in the distribution of funds.
Its Deputy Leader and Bulolo M-P, Sam Basil claims, the Prime Minister and his senior Ministers have been frequently travelling around the country, delivering and even promising large sums of money and projects to various Government M-P's electorates, but neglecting those of the Opposition members. Basil says, the Minister for National Planning recently delivered a one-million kina cheque to Kandep for education, as well as commitments from State Enterprises Minister in Kundiawa, Kainantu and other areas as well, but have forgotten the education services in the Opposition MP's electorate and other sectors as well. He says, the people are currently marginalized yet the Government has the audacity to tell the whole world that PNG is doing fine as a country. The Deputy Opposition Leader also revealed that schools in his electorate were forced to close early, because of this, adding there are other problems which cannot be addressed because of no money. Basil says, lack of development in the Opposition MP's electorates can reduce positive growth and output in them, eventually affecting the whole country's status. He states, the blunt display of arrogance and shifts in the actions in distribution of various funds, projects and commitments nationwide, is a sign of poor planning and management, coupled with pride that will negate any positive steps and affecting P-N-G.
