PNG Labour Mobility Programme Opens Doors for Morobe Workers in Australia and New Zealand26/11/2024
Twelve men from Morobe Province are headed to Australia under the Labour Mobility Programme, facilitated by the Morobe government in partnership with PNG Labour Mobility Unit. The group is part of 50 individuals identified by the Morobe administration, with 11 assigned to work in abattoirs and one in the banana production sector. Meanwhile, three others from the group have already departed for New Zealand, and two women are currently undergoing training in aged care. Provincial Administrator Max Bruten urged the 12 men to value the opportunity and represent Morobe and Papua New Guinea well. “Grab the opportunity with your heart, embrace it and look after it,” Bruten said. “When you go into a foreign land, you must abide by the laws of the company and the country. You are representing a nation and must set a good precedent so that more school leavers from Morobe can travel to Australia or New Zealand.”
Bruten also expressed gratitude to the national government for implementing the Labour Mobility Programme policy. He acknowledged Governor Luther Wenge and the provincial executive council for allocating K700,000 to support the initiative. This development highlights Morobe's commitment to enhancing employment opportunities abroad while promoting skills development and international collaboration. Also read Comments are closed.
