SP Hunters stormed home with a 34 - 12 drubbing of South's Logan Magpies in Port Moresby last night. This was the first Hunters game in Port Moresby and a large crowd of over 15 000 flooded the stadium to watch the match. Thousands of rugby league fans were turned up to buy the tickets at the gates were turned away as the tickets were sold out and even the stadium could not cater for all. The crowd filled the stadium as early as 5pm in anticipation of a whole new league experience as they got the glimpse of the local heroes Hunters. Magpies put two quick tries in the first twenty minutes to take the early lead 12 - 0. The Hunters were yet to tune in trying to get a their heads around the immense PNG support. Willie Minoga barged his way through for the first try and bringing a roar echoing through out the stadium, the Hunters were back. Hunters trailed 10 - 12 at half time after tries through Willie and Ase Boas. In the second half Hunters stepped up another notch but again silly mistakes kept on denying them more tries. Hunters scored another four tries giving back the spectators their monies worth. It was a night of PNG passion as the residents and visitors rallied behind the Hunters. Hunters won 34 - 12 at full time.
